When you think of your outfit options for going out, denim shorts would probably not come to your mind.  But when the weather gets terribly hot, you just have to think about ways to dress them up since you’re going to be living in them most of summer anyway. Whether you are spending your time on the beach, lounging by the pool or simply running errands, throwing on a pair of shorts and a graphic tee is one of the easiest routes to take. Living in Florida, I practically live in shorts. I had to convince my mother that yes, most graduate students even, only ever wore shorts to university! So I thought, why not add a prettier top and some accessories to it so I could get away with wearing it to dinner or lunch some day. Here are some ways you can dress up your denim cut-offs this summer:

  1. Accessories: Accessories are the way to go when you want to dress up or dress down an outfit. Whether you decide to go for statement earrings, or maybe a statement belt like this one it can really transform your look and make it look like you have put some effort into your outfit.
  2. Shoes: Ditch your usual pair of sneakers and try wearing a pair of heeled mules
  3. Statement Tops: My personal favorites include off the shoulder tops and blouses with statement sleeves

What I’m Wearing:

  1. ONLY Off-The-Shoulder Top (similar here)
  2. American Apparel Dark Wash Denim Shorts
  3. Tresmode Heeled Pumps (similar here)
  4. Forever 21 Earrings (similar here)
  5. Red Ethnic Cross Body Bag (thrifted)
